In this tutorial, we will show you how to remove part of an image.

Before:

      After:

From time to time, you may want to remove part of an image from a picture. We use 10.05.1 as the original image in this example. We will be removing the sheep in the far left from the picture. You may right click and save this image to your disk, then open it in Image Broadway if you want to practice it yourself while following the tutorial steps below. You may also right click on this image and copy it to the Clipboard and use the Image Broadway File > Clipboard menu to paste it in as a new image. Optionally, you may click the Navigator tab to display the Navigator window and use its slider bar to zoom in and out; or you may click the Info tab to display the exact pixel color and cursor information in the Info window.

  1. Select the Clone tool on the image toolbar, uncheck the Align box.
  1. Click on the Preset Brush toolbox to select a brush as shown in Figure 10.05.2. A larger brush will cover a larger area.

Tip: You will only see the Brush selection panel below. If your brush size selection is small, like "1", you may not be able to see the cloing. Select a large brush size will help.

  1. First, specify the source image by Ctrl-clicking (hold the Ctrl key and click) on it. Move your mouse to the grass near the far left sheep, hold the Ctrl key down and click to pick up the source image. Move the mouse over the far left sheep and click on it or click and continously paint over it to clone the grass patch. You can release the mouse button and click again to repeat the cloning in a different part of the image. Figure 10.05.3 shows part of the sheep is gone.

  1. You can continue to pick up different source images by changing the brush size or shape, and Ctrl-clicking over other parts of the grass as you move along. Figure 10.05.4 shows the final image with the far left sheep completely gone. Or, you make click near a sheep to pick it up as the source to clone more sheeps.
