Automated Data Systems uses InstallConstruct to package and distribute several of their software products, including TV/Radio News Production and Prompting System, EZNews. The EZNews distribution includes 10 packages, all built with InstallConstruct. These packages include the full array of files and software components for both the system's File Server, Data Server, workstation and optional automation components. In most cases, the customer installs the software themselves. Automated Data Systems has had excellent feedback from customers on the ease-of-installation, which is a direct credit to InstallConstruct.

Some of Automated Data Systems products (EZPrompt XP and EZPrompt Pro XP are distributed via the Web. These software packages are built with InstallConstruct, and again the response has been excellent. Now you know why Automated Data Systems so willingly renewed their Subscription Plan!

NYPD uses InstallConstruct to distribute Procedural Manuals

NYPD has converted four volumes of their printed procedural manuals from paper into PDF file. Each of the four manuals is about the size of a phone book in a binder, and weighs up to seven pounds. In one case, a particular manual covers 1600 pages.

The challenge for NYPD is to distribute the PDF files on CD-ROM with Auto Run, Auto Play, and Auto Search and Install the PDF viewer if not present on the Laptops. NYPD was able to accomplish this task with InstallConstruct so that a Cop can just pop the CD-ROM in a Laptop, and moments later the procedural manuals will automatically show up on the screen without entering any command. The Cops would otherwise have to check if the viewer is present; and if not, find it and install it, then locate and open the procedural manuals. By using FileStream InstallConstruct to package the procedural manuals, NYPD is able to bypass all those steps and make it so much easier and simpler for the Cops.
